Hi, it’s Jillian Barberie and this is my podcast Ask Jillian. You might know me from Good Day LA or FOX NFL on Sunday, but I’m pretty sure it was Sharknado 4 where I was eaten alive! For years I was the one asking the questions on TV shows, radio interviews and Red Carpets but I’ve realized at this point in my life I’m the one that needs a lot of questions answered. I mean these last few years have been a doozy, at times I haven’t had a clue which way to go except simply forward. So I want to start on a journey with all of you. This is about having open and deep discussions with old friends and new ones about their lives, getting or even giving advice and having some laughs together. There will be celebs, experts in various fields and other very interesting characters from my life, we’re going to cover it all! I’ve never been known for playing it safe and I’m not starting now, no subject is off limits! Career. Marriage. Divorce.
Single Mom. Kids. Boyfriends (yeah I’ve got stories of some famous men). Adoption. Molestation. Finding my birth family. Makeup. Fashion. Design. Sex. Friendships. Cancer. My Truth! So let’s get started.
Ask Jillian!
Ep. 30 Ruby & Rocco say the darndest things!
Ruby and Rocco are my amazing children! Ruby is my beautiful, kind, fun loving, tik tok watching, makeup loving daughter. Rocco is my future gaming champ, nerf warrior, lego architect, super sweet, high energy son. They are my loves, both of them are so smart, funny and if I do say so very cute. They have my whole heart.
In this episode of Ask Jillian, we talk about everything going on in their lives. What they think about school and how it's changed with quarantine. What they're afraid of, which is surprisingly different from my extremely justified fear of bears and great white sharks! How they feel about parenting styles and my mommy discipline, or lack thereof. As well as the tough events we’ve been through like the divorce and cancer which was scarier for them than I thought.
What Ruby and Rocco shared definitely surprised me a couple of times but their strength didn’t. They’re my angels!
Ep. 29 Let’s talk about Binge Watching SPOILER ALERTS!!!!
In this episode of Ask Jillian we talk about binge watching. It's one of my favorite things to blast through an entire series! And one of my least favorite is when it stops saying NEXT EPISODE! It's such a different experience than how watching TV used to be but now it's so tough when I have to wait for a new episode or season. I love getting recommendations for shows I haven't seen so I can dive in to something new. Usually I'm fitting it into the schedule when the kids aren't around, and staying up way too late, though sometimes they catch me and get tired of hearing the same theme song over and over.
It's a fun conversation with Liz about our favorite shows and some times we might have binge watched a little too much!
Ep. 28 DaveO knows everybody!
Dave “DaveO” Osokow is an entrepreneur, talent connector, podcaster, host, frequent wedding officiant and diehard Philly sports fan. Fly, Eagles, Fly! He is a total Hollywood insider and is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet!
In this episode of Ask Jillian, we talk about how he met Liz pulling together a last minute shoot the day before Thanksgiving (to her annoyance) while she was trying to get ready for 30 people at her house for dinner the next day! DaveO tells us how he got his start in Los Angeles working at night clubs and made friends with everyone. Liz and I are pretty sure there was a time we might have crossed paths with DaveO on a crazy night out at Forty Deuce in Hollywood, where I made out with Jenna Jameson after an award show! DaveO is a passionate fan of all Philly sports and when the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl it got pretty emotional, he was right on the sidelines crying! We all discuss relationships, how difficult dating apps can be and what we have learned from them, which is not much.
DaveO is one of the most genuine and fun people in Hollywood, he’s always willing to make it work with a great attitude!
Ep. 27 Let’s talk about Summer Vacations
In this episode of Ask Jillian we talk about summer vacations with the family. Every summer was spent at my parents' cabin on a beautiful lake near Perry Sound in Ontario, Canada. It was fantastic for us growing up and I loved being able to bring my own kids there to make new memories. Though one not so great memory of the cabin is when I wandered off as a toddler for hours! It definitely scared everyone almost as much as when a bear knocked on the door! On the lake we would go boating on the SS Muriel (I crashed it once), fishing, water skiing and swimming. They were the best times! When I was a kid my parents took us on road trips. I would protest if it involved a location were a recent murder had happened, to everyone’s dismay I knew all about them at an early age. I never thought I was a cruise person but Disney changed my mind, bon voyage! The Disney Dream Ship cruises with my kids to the Bahamas and Vancouver were truly magical! Liz also talks about her family Summer trips and her unique camp 🍆 experiences.
So many great trips and such incredible memories! Can’t wait to take adventures again!
Ep. 26 Heather McDonald always has the Juicy Scoop!
Heather McDonald is a comic, NY Times bestselling author, actress, writer, celebrity impersonator, great mother and an amazing supportive friend! She is a hilarious successful stand up comic and has created the fantastic very popular podcast Juicy Scoop.
In this episode of Ask Jillian, we talk about how we met when Liz introduced Heather as one of her best friends. Heather dreamt we’d be friends and then it happened! We discuss the fun times we've had together over the years, when we all were working with the Wayans brothers on a pilot, and our shared love of karaoke! Heather also tells us all about the trouble she got into with Liz when they were kids and great times they have had since, they are BFF’s. Heather also discusses her childhood acting days, her time on Chelsea Lately and the high school Thespian Society with Liz, Heather was the president.
Heather is hilarious and has forged her own impressive path through Hollywood because she never gives up, she is hustler!
Ep. 25 A.J. Benza is the king of Hollywood’s mysteries and scandals!
A.J. Benza is a writer, podcaster, actor, author, family man and incredible TV host. His show on E! Mysteries and Scandals was a great take on Hollywood’s darker side. Now he continues telling those crazy stories on his podcast Fame Is A Bitch.
In this episode of Ask Jillian we discuss how we met on my show The Test and how we’ve always got along great because we both love stories about old Hollywood and Howard Stern! A.J. has been on Howard’s show a ton and even guest hosted, though he’s also got himself into a fair bit of trouble. We talk about his battles with Stuttering John and the feud with Donald Trump that got him kicked off the show.
He tells us about growing up in New York, his time in the club scene, his rise as a gossip columnist and a crazy story about Mariah Carey’s wedding to Tommy Mottola.
A.J. and I have seen a lot in Hollywood and had a lot to talk about and there were quite a few surprises even for me!
Ep. 24 Lisa Ashley saved my life!
Lisa Ashley is a makeup artist to the stars, business woman, baseball wife, mother and one of my all time best friends. I have talked about her on my podcast a lot and she’s finally here!
It was Lisa that pressured me to get my mammogram last year that discovered my breast cancer. She saved my life!
In this episode of Ask Jillian we discuss how we met at NFL on FOX, became inseparable, continued working together and have been great friends ever since.
Lisa has made her own way in Hollywood building an incredible list of clients. She worked with me on all the FOX shows including American Idol Extra and Skating with Celebrities. We’ve done commercials together, press tours and events, we have had a lot of laughs. Some of our work trips have also had a crazy side like in NYC for Howard Stern when we were out all night with Robin and Ralph and in New Orleans for the Super Bowl with our SWAT boyfriend/security.
Lisa’s husband is the fantastic and supportive, former Los Angeles Dodger Billy Ashley though we were never the best baseball wives! We were all on FOX’s Househusbands of Hollywood together.
Lisa has been an absolute treasure in my life and we’ve supported each other through it all!
Ep. 23 Nischelle Turner is a Broadcasting SuperSTAR!
Nischelle Turner is an Emmy award winning journalist for Entertainment Tonight, a CNN Contributor, a go getter, an advocate, and an incredibly supportive friend.
In this episode of Ask Jillian we discuss how Nischelle and I met at FOX’s Good Day LA, the fun we had working together and the challenges of being females in the broadcasting world.
I loved what Nischelle brought to the mix at GDLA and have been so excited to see her career blossom. From Nischelle’s first on air job in Indiana, to New Orleans, the NFL and now two prestigious jobs at CNN and Entertainment Tonight. We reminisce about how Entertainment Tonight was a dream job growing up watching it for both us and now Nischelle has made it a reality!
We talk about finding support and mentors in this tough industry, the ups and downs, missed opportunities, cancelled shows and the hard won victories along the way.
How we both grew up far from La La Land, Nischelle was raised by an amazing single mom on a farm in Missouri and the impact that had on her life.
Also what it’s like to find your community as transplants to LA and creating a home as single women. Nischelle just built her dream home, it sounds amazing! Hopefully I’ll get an invite soon to come over and toast all her successes!

Mr. Malone aka Fagsy Malone is a podcast host, artist, spiritual guide, and he’s one of my best most supportive friends. My brotherman!
In this episode of Ask Jillian we talk about our relationship, the good and bad times we’ve shared and how there’s always been a lot of laughs.
I met Mr. Malone with his BFF director Anne Fletcher at Sandra Bullock’s “All About Steve” movie premiere and became fast friends. Mr. Malone shares some of his unique dating stories, I had never heard of a double dick, didn’t think it existed but you learn something new everyday. Also we talk about when he worked at Disney World as a performer and reluctant character, he nailed Friar Tuck! Then our trip to Disney World together with my kids where we discovered Ruby had created her own new character Princess Rage, a classic villainess! Mr. Malone is an amazing artist. One of his animal portraits of my beloved Teddy is a treasured piece of art in my home. His face swapping and photoshopping skills on Instagram are hilarious and legendary, Barbra (and me) is one of his favorite subjects! We go into how Mr. Malone’s life took a new unexpected direction and he’s no longer doing art. From loss came a rebirth where he tapped into his gift of intuitionism and now gives automatic pen readings at The Crystal Shrine here in Los Angeles. His beloved mother, whose ashes he spread at a Target with Kristen Johnston, had the gift as well. Mr. Malone’s wit, charm and singing talent is featured as a co-host on Straight Talk with Ross Matthews and his own podcast It’s a Gay, Gay, Gay, Gay Podcast, they are both great!
We had a lot to catch up on, it was incredible and inspiring to hear about how happy he is now, it gave me hope!
Ep. 21 Let’s talk about sleep paralysis, because it sucks!
In this episode of Ask Jillian we talk about sleep paralysis. I mean can any of us sleep lately?!? I have recently suffered from sleep paralysis, it’s horrifying and debilitating. It’s caused by trauma, anxiety and depression which I have had all three plus what we are going through now as well. I experienced it at 12yrs old due to the trauma of sexual abuse then, now due to the aftermath of my breast cancer. It’s terrifying! I see a shadow man and can’t move which lasts about 3mins though feels like forever. I didn’t tell anyone I suffered from it as a child but when it started again a few months ago, I knew I had to get answers and help. Sweet dreams everyone!

I believed in Daniella’s talent the minute I met her. Her sense of style was so original and sexy! I have always supported women entrepreneurs, Daniella’s passion was contagious and I became a fan and friend.
Daniella tells the story of how she met her husband Rock ‘n’ Roll musician Gilby Clarke on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and once they met she never went home.
Their marriage is inspirational, they have been together for 30+yrs and are still totally into each other … what is their secret?!?
We also talk about her touring with her husband and Guns N’ Roses, being in their legendary November Rain video, hosting with Sharon Osbourne on Rock of Love: Charm School. In this episode of Ask Jillian we talk about traveling. My wilder days on girls trips, the crazy night Liz, Lisa and I had in Vegas for a charity event. How we got to see Stevie Nicks perform and barely made the flight home. We didn’t understand “wheels up” means they’ll leave without you! My NY trips for Howard Stern, partying with Robin and Ralph until the wee hours. Another time I was preggo and no one knew, but Howard and crew kept trying to get me to ride the sybian! That would never happen, pregnant or not! I couldn't party on that trip but my girlfriends did without me. How traveling with some friends is more fun than with others, I’m not uptight and when I'm on vacation I don’t want everything scheduled.

He watched first hand its ride to the Oscars and the historical mix up of the Best Picture announcement. Scott’s behind the scenes stories are great. His reviews are fun, fair, educational, enthusiastic and insightful. He is truly the movie man!

I’ve followed the story ever since because justice wasn’t served in my opinion. Since my cancer diagnosis, in moments of loneliness and despair, it has been my online social media family that has lifted me up sharing your amazing stories and inspired me to have hope that it will get better. I know I am not alone, depression and anxiety affects millions of us. It is often not diagnosed, misdiagnosed or there is a shame associated with it that keeps someone from seeking help. Dealing with mental health should be considered brave. It takes incredible strength to admit you need help. I am not afraid or ashamed to talk about my depression anymore and ask for help. It's my only way out, to talk about it and take it head (that’s a pun) on!
